It has finally happened Philadelphia Eagles fans. Kevin Patullo is no longer the offensive coordinator.
NFL insider Ian Rapoport first reported that the team had informed Patullo that they were going to make a change at offensive coordinator. Mike Garafolo added that a key note is that Patullo is not going to be fired, and there is a chance he can still remain on the staff.
The phrasing is important here and in the #Eagles’ statement. Kevin Patullo is not fired. There’s a chance he could remain on Nick Sirianni’s coaching staff, sources say. https://t.co/vdQ9x0sJk1

The Philadelphia Inquirer's Jeff McLane alluded earlier in the day that Patullo could be demoted to pass game coordinator, as he was before getting the offensive coordinator job. Patullo just completed his first season as offensive coordinator.
Kevin Patullo will no longer be the offensive coordinator
This comes as no surprise, as the offense struggled throughout the season for the Eagles, as they posted their worst numbers under Nick Sirianni as head coach:
- 24th in total offense (311.2 yards per game)
- 23rd in passing (194.3 yards per game)
- 18th in rushing (116.9 yards per game)
- 19th in scoring (22.3 points per game)
The move to possibly retain him is also not a surprise. It's important to talk about the fact that there are some good things Patullo did as the offensive coordinator versus the places where he struggled.
Play calling and getting into the flow of a game were the biggest issues. Patullo would get the offense off to great starts, but the offense struggled in the second half, and Patullo wasn't able to fix any of the problems.
Where Patullo strives at his job is game planning. He can get a good plan together of what plays to run and it's evident from the first half numbers compared to the second half stats.
Some might believe that Patullo is getting scapegoated for the offensive problems and there might be some truth to it, but a change had to be made. Patullo just wasn't getting the offense going and it never did all season.

The Eagles will now be searching for a new offensive coordinator as this hire might be the most important in the Sirianni era as there are no more excuses. If Sirianni misses the mark on this hire, it could end up costing his job.
