Eagles fans pray Commanders take a gamble on walking distraction

Make the mistake, please.

While the Philadelphia Eagles have seen themselves wrapped up in the rumor mill, the one their rivals, the Washington Commanders, are involved is much worse.

At least for the Eagles, they might be in the running to get Las Vegas Raiders edge rusher Maxx Crosby, which would, of course, be an update. As for the Commanders, they have been linked to the potential of either signing or trading for San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk.

That might not be the best situation for the Commanders, as Aiyuk has been in the news for the wrong reasons: he did not play last year due to a knee injury, but how that transpired is what is causing some problems. Aiyuk reportedly lost millions in guaranteed money due to not participating with the organization, which has resulted in him not taking any of their calls at all. The disgruntled wide receiver made it known, though, in a social media video who he wants to play for in 2026.

“Go Commanders! Go Commanders! Go Commanders!”

Eagles fans would love to see Brandon Aiyuk in a Commanders uniform

Prior to his injury in 2024, Aiyuk had back-to-back seasons with 1,000 yards, including 1,342 in 2023. He was considered one of the top rising stars at wide receiver in the NFL, but after the recent developments, it's becoming a tough situation for any team to get involved in.

A big reason the Commanders are in the conversation for Aiyuk is that he's got multiple connections to the franchise. Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels was a college teammate of Aiyuk. Also, Washington wide receiver Deebo Samuel played alongside Aiyuk for multiple years in San Francisco.

Eagles fans wouldn't mind this situation from actually becoming a reality, and Aiyuk is in a Commanders uniform. Signing Aiyuk would create a distraction for the franchise while also giving a guy who has not played in almost two years a chance to try to be the guy he was in 2023.

It also helps that the Eagles have actually been very good against Aiyuk the three times they have faced each other. Aiyuk has only caught eight passes for 70 yards and one touchdown, but he also had a 38-yard touchdown run on them. His best game against the Eagles was in 2023 when he had five receptions for 46 yards and a touchdown.

If the Commanders want to "upgrade" their receiver room, the Eagles would welcome it, as they have the talent to match it. Riq Woolen was a star at OTAs, and there are All-Pro corners Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean.

Nothing would make Eagles fans happier than the Commanders overpaying for another free agent who ends up disappointing them like they have done so well over the last two decades.
