Bleacher Report's Brad Gagnon put together the playoff-eligible teams' fatal flaws for their shot at a Super Bowl this season.
While there are only 17 eligible teams left for a shot at this year's dance, Gagnon felt the need to give Eagles fans something to discuss while they prepare to watch Philadelphia's Week 17 matchup. Gagnon believes the Eagles' fatal flaw is their franchise quarterback, Jalen Hurts, who'll disrupt their playoff push in 2025.
"Hurts was the Super Bowl MVP last year, so we're not condemning him or the recovering Eagles. That said, he ranks just 20th in QBR and has the 12th-highest bad-throw rate in the league. The 27-year-old has played well of late, but he committed five turnovers in a brutal prime-time loss earlier this month."
Is Jalen Hurts the Eagles' kyptonite to winning a second straight Super Bowl?
In the span of two sentences, Gagnon pieces together vague statistical evidence and hyper-fixates on a Week 14 performance that appears to be more of an anomaly than a fact, going into the final two games of the season.
While Hurts hasn't been an elite quarterback for Philadelphia this season, for anyone to believe that he is the biggest issue in Philadelphia's attempt at a championship may be grossly mistaken. Hurts and Philadelphia have dealt with a myriad of injuries, ineffective play calling (on offense), depth issues, the regression of Saquon Barkley, and a lack of leadership for the majority of the season.
While it remains unknown if the Eagles can repeat as Super Bowl champions, what is true is that coming into the season, Philadelphia had extremely high expectations that may have been a bit unfair. Through 15 games, the Eagles have shown us who they are, with Hurts at the helm, and for what it's worth, their 10-5 record is possibly the most realistic scenario for them going into the playoffs.
The Eagles aren't a perfect team, but as of right now, their franchise quarterback produces more positive than negative outputs for the franchise. While Philadelphia fans have always believed the backup quarterback to be the most popular player on the team, the consistency Hurts has provided can not be understated.

Hurts has led the Eagles to a 56-25 record as a starter and is primed to lead them to their fifth playoff berth in six seasons as a starter.
