He has a target in mind.

The Philadelphia Eagles are fully invested in draft season as they look for the future of the franchise.

While Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman didn't explicitly say it at his end-of-year press conference, he did suggest the team might be more focused on adding players through the draft than on being aggressive in free agency. It was a similar approach to last offseason, with a focus on free agency on one-year contracts and instead on the draft to get top players like Jihaad Campbell and Andrew Mukuba in the first two rounds.

There are going to be a lot of needs for the Eagles as they figure things out at wide receiver, CB2, EDGE, and the offensive line. From the players they are meeting at last week's bowl games, it appears they might have a position in mind to target.

Eagles met with several players at college bowl games

A few of the Philadelphia Eagles who reported shared at the beginning of the week that they met with the team at big bowl games like the Senior Bowl and Hula Bowl. The Philly Special Show's Anthony DiBona has sources who confirm to him that the Eagles met with four players.

  • Hezekiah Masses, Cal CB
  • Romello Height, Texas Tech EDGE
  • Kejon Owens, Florida International RB
  • Clayton Powell-Lee, Georgia Tech DB

Eagles independent reporter James Simone also shared that sources told him the team spoke with two names.

  • Fred Davis II, Northwestern CB
  • Xavier Nwankpa, Iowa S

It's pretty clear that the Eagles are targeting the secondary in some capacity in the NFL Draft, given that safety Reed Blankenship and cornerback Adoree' Jackson are free agents and won't be back. Most of the guys are Day 2 or Day 3 picks, so it won't affect the first round.

One player that sticks out is Texas Tech edge rusher Romello Height, who is projected to be a first-round pick. Height racked up 38 tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss, and 10 sacks last season for the Red Raiders.

That could be the first sign to show the Eagles are looking at an edge rusher in the first round, potentially with Jaelan Phillips looming as a free agent. If Philly doesn't re-sign Phillips, they might be forced to go EDGE in the first round with Nolan Smith and Jalyx Hunt really it at the position.

Eagles might be going defense in the first round at edge, but have no doubts they are trying to find someone in the secondary, which could make things interesting for the Birds going into the 2026 season.
