ESPN's Adam Schefter spoiled the news already, but the Philadelphia Eagles' inactives list just rubbed salt in the wound about right tackle Lane Johnson being out for the NFC Wild Card matchup against the San Francisco 49ers.
Johnson was one of seven Eagles who were listed on the inactive list after going into the contest questionable to play with a foot injury he's been dealing with since the win over the Detroit Lions in November. Here is the full list of players who will be out for Philly's contest against the 49ers.
- Joshua Uche, EDGE
- Sam Howell, Third QB
- Jakorian Bennett, CB
- A.J. Dillon, RB
- Brett Toth, OL
- Lane Johnson, OL
- Ty Robinson, DL
Lane Johnson is officially out for the Eagles against the 49ers
Fred Johnson steps right back in as the starting right tackle after doing it for the last seven games of the season. Johnson was out on the field working out with Tyler Steen as Eagles reporters noticed that Lane Johnson was nowhere to be found after swelling in his foot came up before the game.
It's a big blow for the offensive line that already has Brett Toth being ruled out for the game as well, with a concussion after being listed as questionable in the final injury report. Rookie offensive lineman Cameron Williams is suiting up for the team after being out most of the season, but it is most likely that Matt Pryor will be the main backup lineman for the Eagles now that Fred Johnson has to play, and Toth is out.
An interesting name to be included on the inactive list was cornerback Jakorian Bennett, who will not play. It might be rookie Mac McWilliams instead filling in as a backup, as he's been on the inactive list more often. The Eagles also have defensive back Andre' Sam on the active roster after being called up with long snapper Charley Hughlett earlier in the week.

It won't be as easy for the Eagles without Lane Johnson on the field, but Philly has been here before and has won games without him, so they can still get the job done as the start of their title defense begins in Lincoln Financial Field.
