The Philadelphia Eagles have some studs and star players on defense; however, they may need some help.
As Quinyon Mitchell has established himself as one of the NFL's best cornerbacks and Cooper DeJean has solidified himself as an elite nickel back, the Eagles have found a massive void at their CB2 position. The Eagles leaned on Kelee Ringo and Jakorian Bennett before Adoree' Jackson provided a serviceable effort as a crafty veteran in the backend of his career.
While Ringo and Bennett will be on the final year of their rookie contracts, Jackson is set to be a free agent at the end of the season. With a massive need, ESPN's Jordan Reid believes that the Eagles will select Brandon Cisse in the late first round out of South Carolina.
"Quinyon Mitchell is a foundational player at one outside corner spot, but the Eagles have a void at No. 2 corner. Adoree' Jackson and Kelee Ringo have been inconsistent, while Cooper DeJean is best at nickel. Cisse is a long, active corner at 6-foot, 190 pounds. His dependability in press coverage and awareness in zone would allow him to excel in coordinator Vic Fangio's coverage scheme. Cisse is a name to watch in the predraft process, as he could be a riser during the offseason circuit."
Eagles get some help in the secondary for 2026
The Eagles have been extremely successful in adding pieces to their defense in the early rounds of the NFL draft over the past couple of years. With Jordan Davis, Jalen Carter, Jihaad Campbell, Nakobe Dean, Nolan Smith, Mitchell, Andrew Mukuba, and DeJean, the Eagles have a youthful corps of defensive players.
That has been supplemented by late-round gems like Moro Ojomo, undrafted free agents like Reed Blankenship, and free agent acquisitions like Zack Baun. For the Eagles, while many mock drafts have connected them to Oregon tight end Kenyon Sadiq, others believe strengthening their defense is the route they can go to enhance their young group of playmakers.

With Vic Fangio at the helm of the defense, adding a piece like Cisse will only increase how lethal the defensive unit can be for years to come.
