It's been a rough season for Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Kelee Ringo, who has had plenty of trials and tribulations in his third NFL season.

Ringo was thrust into the lineup as the Eagles' CB2 at one point in the season, setting a career high in defensive snaps going into Week 18 against the Washington Commanders for his "prove it" start. While Ringo performed average, a lone play-action bootleg by the 39-year-old veteran Josh Johnson has Eagles fans calling for him to be removed from the field.

Kelee Ringo certainly played his way out of any shot with starting on defense

The Eagles rested their starters in Week 18, allowing Ringo and others to showcase their skills not only to their current organization but also to all NFL franchises, with the offseason right around the corner for 18 franchises.

While Pro Football Focus has given Ringo a decent grade so far, while also crediting him with two receptions against him for 39 yards with a pass breakup on four targets, Ringo's inability to accurately diagnose Josh Johnson's on the Commanders' bootleg ultimately led to the difference in an Eagles victory.

As we stated earlier, Ringo played decently enough in Week 18; it appears he may be reaching his ceiling in his role with the Eagles organization. Ringo will be entering the fourth year of his rookie contract; however, releasing him could save Howie Roseman and the Eagles $1.14 million, which could be used towards other roster pieces.

Despite Ringo's viral blunder, he did total four tackles and a tackle for loss during his Week 18 performance, but it doesn't appear that he'll receive much more meaningful playing time come the playoffs. Between Quinyon Mitchell, Cooper DeJean, and Adoree' Jackson, taking the majority of the reps in the secondary.

While the Eagles may still believe in Ringo, it appears that they won't rely on him much as Philadelphia looks to repeat during their upcoming playoff run.
