This is the quiet part of the offseason for all 32 NFL teams, but the Philadelphia Eagles might be a bit interested in some news that dropped.

NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported that the Miami Dolphins and pass rusher Bradley Chubb are going to be parting ways. Chubb spent the last two and a half seasons in Miami, as he racked up 8.5 sacks in 2025 with the Dolphins.

The release of Chubb creates a very interesting situation for the Eagles as they try to make some tough decisions about his former teammate, Jaelan Phillips. That might not be the only reason the Eagles are in the market to sign Chubb.

Eagles might have to consider bringing in Bradley Chubb

Phillips and Chubb both played with each other as teammates since the 2022 season. The next season, current Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio coached the Dolphins' defense with Chubb and Phillips on the field. Fangio and Chubb have ties dating back to the 2019 season, as the two were together for three years when Fangio was the head coach of the Denver Broncos.

Chubb was a Pro Bowler twice in his career, and in both years, Fangio was either the head coach or the defensive coordinator. During his NFL career, Chubb has racked up 112 quarterback hits, 53 tackles for loss, and 48 sacks in 90 games.

It might be a bit of a long shot for the Eagles to try to re-sign Phillips and sign Chubb, but it's worth a conversation. Phillips is already looking at a $15-17 million per year contract, so Chubb would have to come lower on his contract since he is 29 and nearing the end of his prime.

If the Eagles can sell Chubb on chasing a Super Bowl, he might take a pay cut and add more to his incentives to help Philly get the job done. This will all depend on whether Chubb wants the money or the rings.

Yes, the Eagles have other priorities to address in free agency, but edge rusher was a problem, so don't discredit the idea of Chubb being in the midnight green uniforms just yet.
