  • Another training camp approaches.
  • Much of the Eagles 53-man roster is already set in stone.
  • There are no guarantees for the bubble players on the bottom half of the roster.

Tyree Jackson, tight end

The tight end battle figures to be another of those competitions to which we dedicate much of our attention. Dallas Goedert is the unquestioned starter. Jack Stoll and Grant Calcaterra joined him on the 53-man roster for the majority of the most recent season.

Things will be interesting once camp begins. It's time to determine whether or not it's time to give up on the Tyree Jackson experiment. We also need to discover whether or not Dan Arnold, Dalton Keene, and Brady Russell are good enough to catapult themselves onto the 53-man roster.

We'd be willing to wager that Calcaterra is good enough to make the team, but roster spots must be earned. His spot on the roster last season won't guarantee him anything this time around.

Justin Evans, safety

Justin Evans was added to the Eagles' roster by way of a one-year deal on March 20th. Four days later, Philly acquired Terrell Edmunds and signed him to a one-year deal of his own.

They have since drafted Sydney Brown and have added him to a safety unit that also includes K'Von Wallace and Reed Blankenship. Philly also has Tristin McCollum in the mix. Make no mistake about it if you haven't figured this out already. Evans isn't assured of anything, especially if the Eagles acquire another player.
