20 former Eagles who are still having a hard time finding jobs this offseason

Familiar faces are having (and may continue to have) difficult times finding new homes. Here's what's going on with 20 former Eagles we thought about recently.

Derek Barnett, defensive end

Speaking of former first-round selections that didn't quite turn out how we imagined, welcome to the Derek Barnett portion of our discussion. Eight games with the Houston Texans (that includes two playoff appearances) gave us a glimpse of what Philly thought he could be, but they haven't extended him. Will they?

Steven Nelson, cornerback

Barnett's recent stay in Houston reunited him with former Eagles teammate Steven Nelson. The latter still has some tread on the tire if he's used properly i.e. as an off-corner. He's currently representing a $1.1 million dead cap hit for the Texans.

Hassan Ridgeway, defensive tackle

And... Here's another former Eagle that landed with the Texans. Hassan Ridgeway's most recent season ended prematurely after he suffered a torn Achilles in Week 9. He was good in Philly, just always a victim of the number's game. The Birds just always had four or five guys who were better

At best, Hassan's ceiling is probably joining a team as a depth signing. His injury will probably make things tough on him though.

Halapoulivaati Vaiti, offensive lineman

This is not an exaggeration. Halapoulivaati Vaitai's versatility helped Philly raise a Vince Lombardi Trophy, but even though he can play both tackle spots, the Detroit Lions made him a guard. Now, he's seeking a new opportunity. Big V may land somewhere, but he'll do so with a low price tag. We'll see how things go. He's certainly interesting.
