The Philadelphia Eagles made a major splash early on in free agency by agreeing to terms with star running back Saquon Barkley. Barkley, a two-time Pro Bowler, will get a three-year deal worth up to $46.75 million, including $26 million guaranteed at signing with the Eagles.

The move was a bit surprising, as the Eagles as an organization typically don't look to spend big at the running back position. However, it's clearly a move with a very high upside, as Philadelphia's offense could prove to be extremely explosive next season.

Even after adding Barkley, the Eagles still have several areas that they need to address in free agency, including backup quarterback. Marcus Mariota held the role for Philadelphia last season, but Mariota signed with Washington in free agency, so now Philadelphia must look elsewhere.

Considering how much money the Eagles have invested in starting quarterback Jalen Hurts, they'll likely need to be pretty judicious when it comes to identifying his backup. With that in mind, here's a look at three affordable backup quarterback targets for Philadelphia to consider.

Josh Dobbs

As a name, Josh Dobbs isn't going to light the world on fire, but that's kind of the point when it comes to the backup quarterback. The hope is that he won't have to play much, if at all.

Dobbs has experience, as he has played for several different teams over the course of his career since being selected in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Last season, Dobbs was traded to the Minnesota Vikings after they lost Kirk Cousins to a season-ending injury. In five games for the Vikings, Dobbs completed 95 passes for 895 yards and five touchdowns. The Vikings went 2-2 in games he started last season.

Make no mistake, Dobbs isn't great, but he would be cheap, and there aren't too many other attractive options available out there when it comes to backup quarterback for the Eagles.
