Kenneth Gainwell, running back

Kenneth Gainwell is not the answer to any question.

Every time Coach Nick Sirianni talks about Kenneth Gainwell, it is positive. It is clear that the Eagles like Gainwell. But, production outweighs all, and in the past, fans have seen the Birds move off guys they initially had an affinity for.

Kenneth Gainwell only has one year left on his deal after this season, and if things continue at this rate, it's hard to find reasons to allow him to play that year out. He began this year as the first string back, but his carries have decreased to near nonexistence. He has averaged 3.7 yards per carry on the year, and the Birds could find a suitable replacement with one of their choices in the 2024 NFL Draft.

The impending free-agent running back pool is very deep. With Boston Scott, Rashaad Penny, and D'Andre Swift all playing on one-year deals, the Eagles will have a chance to re-tool their backfield to help reignite a run game that has suffered a lack of consistency all season.

Gainwell makes the occasional nice play, but that simply is not enough for a team trying to win a Super Bowl.
