3 Eagles who need to spearhead a victory over rival Cowboys, statistical predictions included
By Matt Grazel
Darius Slay, cornerback
In the first year under defensive coordinator, Sean Desai, the Eagles have struggled with defending other teams' passing attacks. Through eight weeks, Philadelphia ranks 27th with 1,980 passing yards allowed.
Philly will oppose Dak Prescott, a quarterback who has done a great job when facing them during his career. He has a 19/8 touchdown to interception ratio with an 8-3 record against the Eagles. In his last three games versus his division rival, he has thrown 11 touchdown passes and only one interception.
Darius Slay needs to have a good performance this Sunday against the Cowboys. CeeDee Lamb finished with 10 catches, 120 receiving yards, and two touchdowns in the last game against Philadelphia. Slay and his teammates in the secondary will need to step up and shut down Dallas' top receiver.
If the Eagles' secondary can make a big play or two, the Eagles have a good chance of winning this game.
If Slay lives up to his nickname, 'Big Play' in this one, Philadelphia's chances are optimal; however, if Slay and the Eagles' secondary struggles to contain the Cowboys' passing attack, it could be a long afternoon for Philly.
Statistical prediction for Darius Slay - three solo tackles, one pass defended, one interception
