The Philadelphia Eagles have some gaping holes on their roster, specifically on the defensive side. Yes, the NFL Draft will help them fix some of that, but free agency will give them tried and true players.

The Los Angeles Rams didn’t exactly have a stellar defense in 2023, but they did have pieces that could benefit the Birds in 2024. Some of these guys aren't game-wreckers or even consistent game-changers, but they could be helpful if the donned the Midnight Green next season. Let's discuss a handful.

Several impending free agents from the Rams' 2023 roster could add depth to potential weak spots on the Eagles' defense.

Philly travels west to battle the Rams in 2024. Might that be a grudge match for some of these guys?

1. Ahkello Witherspoon - Cornerback

Ahkello Witherspoon is 28 years old and entering his eighth season in the NFL. He's currently on his third team. He spent his first four years with the San Francisco 49ers, then two years in Pittsburgh before playing the most recent season in a Rams jersey.

Statistically, he had the best season of his career with the Rams. It was his first season where he started every game, and he allowed a completion percentage of just 48.1%.

For what it’s worth, James Bradberry allowed a 45.3% completion when targeted in 2022 and 59.4% in 2023.

If you’re looking for a solid cornerback, you could do much worse than Akhello Witherspoon.

2. Jordan Fuller - Safety

Jordan Fuller is 25 years old and entering his fifth season in the NFL. He’s spent all four seasons with the Rams and 2023 was probably his best season. He ended it with three forced fumbles, three interceptions, eight passes defended, and 94 tackles.

In 2021, he led the team in tackles but hurt his ankle and went on IR. He followed that up in 2022 by injuring his hamstring in Week 3 and didn’t see the field again for the rest of the season.

So, yes, injuries are a thing for him, but he returned better than ever once he got healthy.

3. Michael Hoecht - Edge

Michael Hoecht is 26 years old and entering his fourth season in the NFL. He was an undrafted free agent, so he’s a restricted free agent this year.

He’s exactly what you want out of a UDFA. He grew into his shoes in the latter half of the 2022 season but exploded in 2023. He played 84.8% of the snaps and logged six sacks and one forced fumble.

The potential of the Eagles signing Hoecht would/should rely on what happens with Haason Reddick. He wouldn’t be close to a one-for-one replacement, but he’s a good ball player.

4. Christian Rozeboom - Linebacker

Christian Rozeboom is 27 years old and entering his fourth season in the NFL. He’s another player who started as a UDFA. There’s nothing special about him, but he’s better than what we saw with the Eagles linebackers in 2023. An upgrade is an upgrade.

He had his most significant role BY FAR in 2023 where he played just under 45% of the defensive snaps. The Rams’ linebackers weren’t world-beaters and Rozeboom was kind of a 3rd down/rotational piece. There’s not a whole lot more to him other than he has value being a Special Teams player as well.

He's also got long hair, so that's always fun to see.
