5 recently-added Eagles veterans who may not make the 53-man roster

There are no guarantees for some of the veterans at Eagles training camp, particularly with some of the new guys.

Greedy Williams, cornerback

If it seems like Greedy Williams' name comes up a lot during these conversations, it's because the Eagles have a lot of players competing for what might be six cornerback jobs on the 53-man roster, and arguments can be made that we already know who four or five of the locks to make the roster are.

Philly isn't cutting Darius Slay or James Bradberry. Avonte Maddox will make the roster. The Birds figure to hold on to 2023 draftee Kelee Ringo. Some believe Zexch McPhearson has a shot at earning a spot on the team as a backup slot corner.

That means Greedy, Mekhi Garner, Mario Goodrich, Josh Jobe, Eli Ricks, and Josiah Scott are all competing to distance themselves from one another. Make no mistake about it. Williams isn't assured of anything.

Kentavius Street, defensive lineman

Much is made of the Eagles' defensive line, and rightfully so. Along the interior, they'll feature Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis, Fletcher Cox, and Milton Williams. They also have decisions to make about Marlon Tuipulotu, Noah Elliss, and Moro Ojomo before we talk about the edge rushers. Throw Josh Sweat's name in that discussion along with Brandon Graham and Derek Barnett.

Can Kentavius Street play outside on the edge? He's listed as a 'defensive lineman' on the depth chart, not necessarily as a defensive tackle, and if he makes the team, he may have to do so as a defensive end. Here's his competition at the defensive end position: Tarron Jackson, Matt Leo, and Janarius Robinson. Keep your eyes on the 97 jersey again this summer. It no longer belongs to Javon Hargrave. Street is wearing that number now.
