A.J. Brown's absence opens the door for three Eagles on Monday Night Football
News travels fast around circles that are painted midnight green. The Philadelphia Eagles announced on Friday that A.J. Brown was limited at practice with a hamstring injury. It didn't take long for conversations to begin on X. They grew louder when he and Johnny Wilson were both listed as 'questionable' on Saturday's injury report.
Wilson is also dealing with a hamstring injury. Sheesh. What in the heck are they doing to the wide receivers at practice?
Sunday came, and those louder conversations continued. AJ has been ruled out of Philly's Week 2 tussle with the Atlanta Falcons on Monday Night Football
AJ Brown's absence opens the door for a few of his Eagles teammates to shine on Monday Night Football.
Though losing A.J. Brown is no minor detail, something tells us the Eagles aren't going to cancel Monday's game in his absence. That being said, his teammates will need to step up.
Here's where we were probably going to talk about Johnny Wilson, but he's hampered by injuries too. That being said, three teammates could see larger roles in the offense.
Jahan Dotson
Acquired on August 22nd by way of a trade with the rival Commanders. Jahan Dotson was acquired to serve as Philly's third wide receiver. He saw one target in Week 1. That one was almost picked off. Something tells us he'll see a few more balls thrown his way on MNF.
Dallas Goedert
Every year, we talk about bold predictions, and during each of the past two offseasons, we have stated Dallas Goedert will eclipse 1,000 yards receiving. He stacked 702 yards in 2022 before racking up 592 in 2023. Yeah, it appears that we missed the mark slightly.
Now, there are outside factors that helped shape those results. He missed eight games over the 2022 and 2023 seasons due to injury. He caught four of five targets during the regular-season debut. He figures to get more than five targets this time around.
Grant Calcaterra
One target... One reception... 11 yards receiving... That was Grant Calcaterra's workload in Philly's regular-season debut.
He's been praised by his head coach and kept around for another campaign. Okay, this is your moment now Grant! Make something happen!
