Call us crazy, but recently, things haven't seemed to go well when former Eagles have joined the Carolina Panthers

If you've never noticed, there's this weird dynamic between the Philadelphia Eagles and Carolina Panthers. Quite a few Birds have flown south and have determined they'd call it a career after settling in Charlotte, North Carolina. Some are more notable than others.

Reggie White, as you know, was one of the greatest Eagles of all time. He spent his final season with the Panthers in 2000 after his six years in Green Bay.

Torrey Smith, as you also know, was a member of the lone Super Bowl-winning Eagles team. He spent his final season, 2018, with the Panthers.

There are also other notable names in Philly and Carolina's Bermuda Triangle. After his stint in Indianapolis, Frank Reich landed in Charlotte to lead the Panthers. He was fired after posting a 1-10 record in 11 games.

Sean McDermott had a better run. After climbing the coaching ladder with the Birds and becoming Philly's defensive coordinator, he was fired. Guess where he landed... Yep! But, to his credit, his six years in Carolina led to his current gig, leading the Buffalo Bills as their head coach.

Former Eagles draftee Kurt Coleman even joined him in Charlotte to notch a solid three seasons with the Panthers.

Rashaad Penny announces his retirement ahead of his seventh season.

As years pass and players funnel in and out of the Eagles organization, we may soon forget about Rashaad Penny's time in Philadelphia. Signed on March 15th to add some punch to the Eagles backfield, he appeared in a mere three games. He tallied a grand total of 11 carries for 33 yards.

On May 6th, he joined the Panthers. A little under three months later, he decided to hang up the cleats and call it a career. Carolina announced on July 30th, they are adding him to their reserve/retired list. Frankly, we aren't surprised.

Maybe it's a weird coincidence. Maybe this is much ado about nothing. Maybe there is something in Charlotte's water. Oh well, we'll see how things go with Miles Sanders.
