Cooper DeJean booed during Eagles rookie karaoke night
There's always a learning curve for NFL rookies. July is ending, and as we turn the page to August, the Philadelphia Eagles are a tad over a month away from opening their regular season in Brazil versus the Green Bay Packers. That alone is a reality check for the young guys about how swiftly things move at football's highest level.
To their credit, it appears Philly's young Birds are answering the call. They aren't as wide-eyed as you'd think a rookie would be. Nick Sirianni and Vic Fangio have both said the same thing. Sure, they're raw and have much to learn, but so do some of the veterans. Best believe, if a first-year players has proven to his coaches that he has what it takes, he WILL be on the field when the games count.
Cooper DeJean is a tad behind in that regard. He hasn't taken any practice reps and won't for a while. He's nursing a hamstring injury that will keep him from participating in anything strenuously physical for most of camp. If anyone could use a mental break it's him.
He earned an opportunity to do so during a rookie talent show at the NovaCare Complex.

Football, though it may not seem like it, is a lot like your job. Guys spend a ton of time around each other, more than they spend with their families sometimes. They have to find work and life balances wherever possible. Otherwise, they'll spend too much time annoying one another.
We can't imagine anyone being annoyed by Brandon Graham. Honestly, we have never seen him and he wasn't smiling (except during tough stretches of games of course). But, B.G., now in his 15th and final season, is enjoying the ride and taking time to appreciate every step of the journey. He's even recording rookie talebt shows.
Coop, hoping to blow off some steam that comes with unexpected injuries and settling into new surroundings, hit the stage rookie karaoke. You can see where this is headed, right?
Well, it wouldn't be training camp or football if we didn't give the rookies a hard time. Fear not. No rookies were harmed during the filming of B.G.'s video. No further damage was done to Coop's hammy while exiting stage left.
Maybe somewhere Eminem is smiling. We sure are, but Coop is great and football. We've seen his basketball mixtape too. He's phenomenal at that. Maybe this is the universe's way of balancing the scales. It would be unfair if he was a great rapper too.
