We heard a decision might be reached in the Philadelphia Eagles tampering case involving Saquon Barkley shortly after turning the page from May to June. Said decision took a tad longer to arrive than we orginally expected, but Thursday, June 13th brought the desired result.

Following a thorough league investigation, the Birds have been cleared of any wrongdoing. The Atlanta Falcons however will be docked after landing Kirk Cousins.

Thank NFL Network's Ian Rapoport for the report.

The NFL issues its statement following its decision on the Eagles handling of the Saquon Barkley addition.

The NFL's decision follows a long investigation that began in March when, during a Penn State spring football practice, Nittany Lions head coach James Franklin made a statement suggesting Philly had made impermissible contact with then-free agent tailback Saquon Barkley during his acquisition. Philly's leadership structure denied those accusations.

As mentioned, an investigation was launched. The Birds have been cleared. A statement issued by league offices, also reported by Rapoport, reads as follows:

"After a thorough review of the Philadelphia Eagles signing of Saquon Barkley, the NFL today informed the club that the investigation did not discover sufficient evidence to support a finding that the Anti-Tampering Policy was violated.

In coming to this conclusion, the league reviewed phone logs, text messages and other documents related to Philadelphia’s free agency strategy and decision to sign Barkley. The NFL also interviewed several members of the organization, including Howie Roseman and Nick Sirianni, as well as Barkley and Penn State head coach James Franklin.  As with every review, should new evidence be uncovered, the league may reopen the investigation."

Can we be petty for a second? We can be petty for a second, right? We'll tell you what... We're doing this. We weren't really asking for permission.

To every Giants fan out there that thought your team might get a draft pick... HA! Consider this a verbal equivalent to walking through your living room with muddy shoes on and kicking our feet up on your coffee table.
