Devin White shares his reason for aligning with Howie Roseman and the Eagles
Never underestimate a competitor. Philadelphia Eagles fans probably know that better than anyone. We've seen and heard that records don't matter when two rivals meet. We also know, on any given Sunday, upsets can happen.
It doesn't matter if your team is 10-0 and the competition is 0-10. That other squad has NFL players on its roster too. Play long enough and you sill lose to a team you're better than.
Every roster is comprised of individual players. Each has a story which brings us to one currently being written, Devin White's comeback attempt and redemptive tale.
Devin White and Howie Roseman discover they are kindred spirits.
If you've been following Devin White's career, you know this isn't just any season. The former fifth-overall selection went from being the best defensive player on the field during a Tampa Bay Buccaneers Super Bowl win to riding the pine during a Wild Card Playoff game, one the Bucs coincidentally hosted the Eagles in.
Two months later, he joined the Philadelphia Eagles on a one-year deal. Now, how in the heck does that happen? It sounds like he and Howie Roseman discovered they are, in some ways, carbon copies of one another.
Remember when Chip Kelly buried Howie in the equipment room? Remember Jason Kelce's speech, one where he acknowledged he didn't see Roseman for more than a year? Perhaps Kelce said it best. A different Howie Roseman returned when restored to power after Kelly's exit.
That kind of sounds like Devin's story, right? Recently, the 2020 Second-Team All-Pro and 2021 Pro Bowler appeared on The Pivot to explain how he landed in Philadelphia.
The next time someone tells you Howie Roseman isn't the best GM in the NFL, do us a favor. Make sure you remind that person of stories like this one.
Trust us. You have many to choose from.
So, how do we see this going? We think it will go pretty well actually. There were growing pains, but Howie made the most of second (and third) chances. Devin will do the same. He'll make the most of his second chance and have a great season in Eagles green.
Remember what we told you earlier. It is unwise to ever count out a competitor.
