Dom DiSandro's favorite officials highlight unusual notes from Eagles camp

Here's some brutal honesty. At no point, did we think we'd rise from some well-earned sleep and dedicate time to discussing officials with an entertaining Philadelphia Eagles training camp underway. We certainly didn't think Alex Kemp would be the official we'd be discussing. What can we say? The summer is about new love affairs (we think) and surprises.

We'll get back to you about those summertime love affairs. We think we heard that once, but we're certain there is no love affair between Big Dom and Alex Kemp or the city of Philadelphia and his crew. He's rubbed us wrong a few times, even if you didn't know what his name was.

Remember that primetime loss to Washington in 2023 that ended the undefeated streak? Yep, that was Kemp's crew. If you remember, they missed the Dallas Goedert facemask call in that one. You know the one, the play Goedert was injured on.

Alex Kemp's appearance at Eagles training camp is just one of the stranger things that we have noticed.

No, frends... Alex Kemp was the last person we thought we'd talk about today, but when he shows up at Eagles training camp, we are forced to make exceptions.

Yes, you read that correctly. Alex Kemp and his crew officiated the Eagles' first padded practice today. Wait... What? ...

Here's the crazy thing. That's just one of the strange occurrences we have seen at training camp.

We won't call this first appearance 'strange', but it is worth noting that St. Joe’s legend and former NBA all-star Jameer Nelson made an appearance at training camp. Yankees manager Aaron Boone was in the house. Did he get lost or something?

Here's the kicker... Liverpool's coaching staff was in attendance. Then again, maybe that isn't strange. As Zach Berman noted, "during Howie Roseman’s gap year, he spent time studying EPL. Among those he’s conferred with in recent years is Mike Forde, former Chelsea football director."

Maybe that's why special teams coordinator Michael Clay keep playing soccer at practice. Yeah... That happened, but you'll have to forgive us here. We can't get over the Alex Kemp thing, for obvious reasons.

In addition to everything previously noted, Kemp's crew also threw Big Dom out of the home game versus the San Francisco 49ers last season. Two of the Eagles' regular-season losses in 2022 were with his crew officiating. We could go on, but you get the idea.
