Australia has been good to the Philadelphia Eagles. Bankstown, New South Wales native Jordan Malaita has gone from being a seventh-round draft choice that didn't know how to put his helmet on to carve out his lane as the team's franchise left tackle and the protector of Jalen Hurts' blindside. Things didn't go quite as well for Matt Leo, but it appears that he has found his place as well.

Like Malaita, Leo is a proud native of Australia. Like Mailata, he found his way to the NFL when Philly added him as part of the NFL's International Player Pathway Program.

Leo had been a part of the organization since 2020. He was an undrafted prospect that was added following that year's NFL Draft. He recently announced his retirement on July 25th, but the Birds have brought him back as a defensive and football operations assistant.

Take a look.

Kudos to the young man for finding his place.

Make no mistake about it. Matt Leo is more than ready for his new role with the Eagles organization.

There's something about having great teachers. Matt Leo has taken in a lot of info from a couple of franchise legends like Fletcher Cox and Brandon Graham while spending three seasons on the team's practice squad (2020-2022).

During that time, he enjoyed having great minds like Matt Burke, Nathan Ollie, and Tracy Rocker tutor him. It's for that reason that there should be no worries about whether he should be seen as being ready for this new opportunity.

Leo never notched a sack in a game that counts against the Eagles' win-loss total. He never knocked down a pass at the line of scrimmage. He never lined up on special teams or receovered a fumble. Make no mistake about it though. He's sharp and will serve the Birds well in his new role. Be sure to give him a wave or yell at him on the sideline if you see him on gamedays.
