Running back room cannot stay healthy

The Eagles took a risk when they allowed running back Miles Sanders to sign elsewhere in free agency. Then, they took an even bigger pair of risks when they signed Rashaad Penny and followed it up with a trade for D'Andre Swift.

Sanders was the perfect starting running back for this offense. But, the Eagles went out and found a pair of oft-injured running backs to replace him with. Of course, Philly has always loved using multiple backs, at least in the past few years. But, Sanders was the best of them.

If Swift and/or Penny are injured in 2023, and it's very possible that it happens, then what do the Eagles do?

Jalen Hurts regresses after big contract

I do not foresee this happening in the least bit, but we've seen it happen before in this league. A player develops quickly, has a big season and then gets paid. What might happen next would absolutely be a worst-case scenario for the Eagles.

Was 2022 the ceiling for Jalen Hurts and this Eagles offense? Will there be regression coming after such a monstrous year from Hurts and company?

We've heard of positive regression, especially those who are avid fantasy football players. But, in this instance, we're talking legitimate regression for one of the league's brightest, young stars. Again, I don't see it happening. But, we're also talking about worst-case scenarios which might also be rephrased as, an Eagles fan's worst nightmare.

Make no mistake: this Eagles offense does not run without Hurts at his peak.
