Eagles injuries: Reinforcements arrive for encouraged roster undergoing change

There's much to discuss about the roster as the Eagles took the field for their 13th training camp practices.

The number 13 is known as both an unlucky number and 'a baker's dozen'. Today, we'll be referring to it as the latter. A Saturday morning practice marked a baker's dozen for the Philadelphia Eagles. Two come-from-behind preseason victories are in our rearview mirror. One game remains on the slate. This one doubles as a home game.

Saturday's workout is also the first of five live sessions. The Minnesota Vikings visit the City of Brotherly Love for a Saturday afternoon game in the finale. There's some good news to report. Reinforcements have arrived.

Everyone is in good spirits as work continues. Guys on the back half of the roster are a little stressed, but that's to be expected. Guys are also returning from injury.

A signing was also announced. Of course, we'll get into all of that. First, however, we need to do a little housekeeping.

It's good to see some returning Eagles as nine sit out of practice and two more receive their walking papers.

Nine Eagles sat ou of the Eagles' Saturday morning session: Gabe Hall (hamstring), Matt Hennessy (back), EJ Jenkins (knee), Joe Ngata (ankle), Albert Okwuegbunam (abdomen), Caden Sterns (knee), John Ross (concussion), Tyler Steen (ankle), Johnny Wilson (concussion).

The bad news is Steen's ankle injury is probably more serious than originally anticipated. That would explain the organization's decision to re-sign Gottlieb Ayedze. You remember him, right? He was previously signed as an undrafted rookie shortly after the 2024 NFL Draft. Tyler Hall was placed on the team's injured reserve, and Mekhi Garner was waived in corresponding moves.

Here's what that also means. There is an open spot on the Eagles preseason roster. A signing could be announced at any moment.

Other reinforcements were also added as some familiar faces returned to practice, albeit mostly on a limited basis. Oren Burks (knee), Grant Calcaterra (shoulder), CJ Gardner-Johnson (shoulder), Parris Campbell (groin), and Cooper DeJean (hamstring) were all able to participate.

Sydney Brown and Caden Sterns took mental reps.

Fingers are crossed this way in hopes that everyone is back at 100% or close to it once the preseason wraps. After next Saturday's game, we're 'full speed ahead' to Week 1 in Brazil versus the Green Bay Packers.
