Eagles news: Flyers ask to borrow Boston Scott during their trip to MetLife Stadium
The 2023 NFL season approaches, Boston Scott's sixth with the Philadelphia Eagles. Most of you know his story well. He wasn't drafted. He's five-foot-six, but every time he has been given a real opportunity, he has shown, time and time again, that he has what it takes to play at football's highest level. There's just one problem. Seemingly, the only time Philly is willing to give him those opportunities is when they play the hated New York Giants.
Boston Scott has never been voted to a Pro Bowl roster. He may never be voted onto a Pro Bowl roster. He won't be voted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. One has to ask, however, if that would be the case if he played Big Blue every Sunday. Most of you know the details of that story as well.
Eagles news: The Philadelphia Flyers ask the Birds if they can borrow the Boston Scott during a trip to New York.
In nine career games versus the G-Men with Scott in the lineup, the Eagles have crafted a 7-2 record. That includes last January's playoff game. The Giant Killer has run for 446 yards on 92 carries. He has added another 222 yards on 17 receptions.
He has reached the end zone nine times as a rusher and once as a receiver. He has scored at least one touchdown in every game he has played versus Philly's rivals from the Big Apple. It's a fact that isn't lost on any Eagles fan or the Philadelphia Flyers.
The City of Brotherly Love's hockey team has a game scheduled for February 17th at MetLife Stadium, and they'd like to borrow Number 35. Take a look.
Seriously, can you blame them? Boston Scott is a native of Zachary, Louisiana. After making a name for himself as the leading rusher of his high school football team (and as a state champion in weightlifting), four seasons at Louisiana Tech led to a Third-team All-Conference USA nod in 2017.
He has never called New York home but could if he wanted to. Trust us on this one. He owns some real estate there, particularly that dump, MetLife Stadium.
Once he is done with football, perhaps he can spruce the place up some. Our only question is this. Why haven't the Eagles learned they can unleash him against other teams? This guy is a baller, and he'd be one heck of a weapon if used more often.
