Eagles news: Lane Johnson makes boldest of claims, Cooper DeJean's debut nears
40 years is a long time to do anything. That's a long time to live. That's a long time to be married. Congrats to those who have reached either plateau, but doing so also means you have experienced rough spots. How often have you gotten hurt while getting off the couch? How many of you have ever experienced a 'sleep injury'? Now, think of how much wear and tear the body would have taken had you played for the Philadelphia Eagles.
Most won't play the game of football for 40 years. Most won't play the game at 40 years of age. We haven't had to do it, but we imagine a dozen years in the game would probably age someone more quickly than normal.
Lane Johnson enters year 12, and as great as he is, we know he won't play the game forever, but we are also certain he'll be in the Pro Football Hall of Fame discussion when he is done.
When might retirement come? It sounds like we may have an answer.
Lane Johnson makes a bold claim while discussing his future.
Year 12 is underway for the legend, Lane Johnson.16 Eagles training camp practices are in the books. After enjoying a veterans rest day during the 15th, he returned to the field on Wednesday and was nice enough, after doing so, to hang out with the Philly media.
As if often the case when these discussions happen, the conversation shifted to a brief chat about his thoughts on his mortality. There are times when it seems like he's aging backward, but one day, we'll have to enjoy life without him in the lineup. It sounds like that day could be approaching.
He says, physically, he thinks he can play until he’s 40, but more realistically, he thinks he’ll play two or three more years. Say it ain't so Lane! Say it ain't so! Like a fine wine, he has gotten better as he has gotten older, though we'd probably doubt someone else who'd say this, hearing Lane say it makes us believe he can get it done.

Cooper DeJean expects to make his Eagles debut in the preseason finale.
Cooper DeJean watch is still in effect. He again participated in practice. He wasn't overworked, but he was out there. The pitch count continues.
If you're looking for something to pay attention to during the Eagles' final preseason game, however, he's as good a watch as any. He plans to play, making this his first in-game action of the preseason and the first football game he has played in since last November.
Oh well... Better late than never, right? Just make us one promise. Try not to fly off the rails if he gets off to a slow start and looks a little rusty.
