The dream scenario for the Philadelphia Eagles for the 2024 NFL season would be getting back to the Super Bowl and winning it for the second time in franchise history. But, what about the worst-case scenario? Bleacher Report recently listed every team's nightmare for 2024 in a single sentence, and with the Eagles it boiled down to the major changes they made this offseason not working out.

From B/R:

"Massive changes on defense and within the coaching staff don't fix what ailed a team that lost six of its last seven games with a similar core in 2023."

Changes in the name of improvement

The Eagles made a plethora of changes this offseason in the name of improvement, starting with the coaching staff. Offensive coordinator Brian Johnson was relieved of his duties and replaced with Kellen Moore, and similarly Vic Fangio replaced Sean Desai as defensive coordinator.

The Eagles also updraded the secondary by bringing back safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson and drafting cornerbacks Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean with their first two picks in the '24 draft. The team also bulked up at linebacker by adding Devin White and Bryce Huff and drafting Jeremiah Trotter Jr.

Plus, who could forget the addition of star running back Saquon Barkley, who was a two-time Pro Bowler as a member of the rival New York Giants. Barkley should be an excellent addition to an offensive attack that already includes wide receivers A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith and quarterback Jalen Hurts.

Given all of these additions, there is newfound hope that the Eagles will be able to bounce back after an underwhelming 2023 campaign and make another run at a Super Bowl. But, if the myriad of changes made this offseason fail to move the needle for the team in 2024, that would indeed be a nightmare scenario for the Eagles.
