Eagles topple the Buccaneers in Tampa: Week 3 game balls following an impressive win
Well, that's more like it. If you didn't know any better, you may have been led to believe that the Philadelphia Eagles were 0-2 after the first two weeks of the NFL season. They weren't. Philly's season began with a road win versus the New England Patriots on Tom Brady appreciation day and another victory in their home opener versus the Minnesota Vikings. Some of the media and fan base was ticked though.
What can we say? Some people aren't satisfied by wins alone. Some people simply want style points.
We get it. The Birds didn't deliver their best effort early in the campaign. The offense struggled to gain some traction. There seemed to be a lack of chemistry in some areas.
There's still much to fix. Fortunately, Philly gets to do so as the owners of a 3-0 win-loss total. Here's a tip of the cap for some of the stars of Monday night.
Let's hand out a few game balls following the Eagles' third win of the season. Forgive us if we hand out too many.
Handing out game balls may not be Nick Sirianni's style, but it's totally in our makeup. We could give one to everybody on this team. As a matter of fact we will, but here are a handful of Birds that truly impressed us.
1. D'Andre Swift, running back
This guy is amazing! Another game is in the books. D'Andre Swift eclipses 100 yards rushing again, 130 yards rushing to be exact.
2. Olamide Zaccheaus, wide receiver
Olamide Zaccheaus helped keep an early drive alive with a clutch catch on second down that went for 24 yards. His 34-yard touchdown reception on a 3rd and ten shot from Jalen Hurts with 3:32 remaining in the second quarter will be the discussion for a while though. The latter doubles as his first TD reception in an Eagles jersey.
3. Reed Blankenship, safety
Welcome back Reed Blankenship! The more we watch this guy, the more reasons we find to smile. This guy is a baller, and he's going to be good for a long time.
4. Jalen Carter, defensive tackle
We'd like to just take this opportunity to remind you that the Chicago Bears passed on this guy TWICE. Oh well... Their loss is our gain. Jalen Carter isn't just special. He's a star in the making.
5. Sydney Brown, safety
Sydney Brown was unable to close this one out on the field with his teammates because of an injury, but his disruption of what should have been a sure TD pass from Baker Mayfield to Mike Evans was one of the underrated moments of this win.
This Eagles safety room is better than we have given them credit for being.
The Birds improve to 3-0 for the second time in two seasons. Next up is a home date with the Washington Commanders.
