Eagles updated injury report for preseason Week 2: Latest Cooper DeJean update
Transitioning from the NCAA level to the NFL is tough enough. There are so many things for rookies to think about. There are new teammates in the locker room. There's a new city and fan base to learn about in most cases. Then, there's the playbook. Now, try to put yourself in Cooper DeJean's cleats. Philadelphia Eagles training camp hasn't gone according to plan.
Philly's rookies and veterans reported to camp on July 23rd. The first practice session was scheduled for the following day. We learned from ESPN's Jeremy Fowler before it started that DeJean was nursing a hamstring and would miss at least three weeks of action. That diagnosis proved to be relatively accurate give or take a few days, but good news has come ahead of a joint practice session.
Here's an updated look at the Eagles' injury report as Philly prepares for a Week 2 preseason game versus the Patriots.
The Eagles first announced their plans of a joint practice session with the New England Patriots at the end of May. Almost six months later, we have arrived at our destination ready to work.
Well... Most of us are ready to work.
Philly announced Cooper DeJean has been activated from the NFI (Non-Football Injury List). He will only participate in individual drills during the joint session though. The rest of Tuesday's injury report was as follows.
Oren Burks didn't practice because of an injured knee, and he hasn't practiced since the first day of practice. Grant Calcaterra (shoulder), CJ Gardner-Johnson (shoulder), Albert Okwuegbunam (abdomen), and Caden Sterns (knee) also sat out. Parris Campbell (groin), Mehki Garner (hamstring), and Brandon Smith (concussion) were also among the walking wounded, but they all participated albeit in a limited fashion.
Stay tuned. We'll monitor everyone's progress and cross our fingers that no one is added to the list.
