Eagles vs. Cowboys affair is the most important Sunday Night Football game of 2023

An NFC East affair on Sunday Night Football featuring the Eagles and Cowboys awaits.

Last week against the San Francisco 49ers, the Philadelphia Eagles were simply embarrassed at Lincoln Financial Field. The loss was so bad ( a 23-point defeat), that the club needs to put it behind them and move on. There's no doubt. Philly must turn the page quickly.

The good news is Philly's most recent loss wasn't during the NFC Playoffs as that would have been an unpleasant and humiliating finish and a nightmarish thought to dwell upon through the offseason. The better news is the Eagles are capable of playing much better than they did in Week 13. They'll need to do so immediately.

A divisional game against the Dallas Cowboys is on the horizon for Philadelphia. The winner could potentially win the NFC East. The Eagles (10-2) have a one-game lead over the Cowboys (9-3) entering the contest. Philadelphia won a nail-biter of a game against Dallas previously in Week 9. The upcoming contest is a must-win for both Philly and their division rival.

The Eagles are undefeated against their divisional opponents (3-0) so far in 2023 while the Cowboys are 3-1 against their top rivals. A win on Sunday Night Football for Philadelphia would give them a two-game lead over Dallas in the NFC East (and tie-breakers). Philly would have defeated them in both games this year, and that will come in handy when we begin discussing playoff positioning.
