After getting blown out by the San Francisco 49ers 42-19 at home on Sunday, the Philadelphia Eagles are underdogs for the second straight game ahead of their pivotal Week 14 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys.

The Cowboys opened up as three-point favorites over the Eagles on Sunday night, while Philadelphia was +145 on the moneyline. However, the line moved a half-point Monday morning, making the Eagles 3.5-point road underdogs.

Eagles vs. Cowboys Opening Odds

It doesn’t come as a big surprise to see the oddsmakers make the Eagles underdogs as they disappointingly lost at home to the 49ers, and the Cowboys have won 14 straight games at home.

At the same time, you could make the case that the Eagles are being disrespected as they defeated the Cowboys 28-23 in Week 9 at Lincoln Financial Field. Heading into that game, Philadelphia was a three-point favorite.

The Eagles rallied from a three-point halftime deficit and outscored the Cowboys by eight points in the second half. Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott had an outstanding performance, completing 29-of-44 passes for 374 yards and three touchdowns.

However, Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts made plays, recording 243 total yards and three touchdowns. The game came down to the final play, with Philadelphia’s defense keeping Dallas star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb out of the end zone.

Nevertheless, it is only the third time this season that the Eagles were listed as underdogs. They were road underdogs against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 11 and escaped Arrowhead with a four-point win.

Therefore, it’s not impossible to think that the Eagles can’t go down to Dallas and win outright, as we saw the Cowboys almost lose to the Seattle Seahawks last Thursday night. However, the last time the Eagles won in Dallas was on Nov. 19, 2017. The head coach at the time was Doug Pederson, and the Eagles’ starting quarterback was Carson Wentz.

If the Eagles want to change their fortunes against the Cowboys, they must play better in the first half, get off the field on third down, and fix their run defense, which has struggled over the last few games.
