News travels fast. Real talk... We literally pointed the mouse at Adam Schefter's social media post on X about three minutes after he had announced that the Philadelphia Eagles had acquired Jahan Dotson by way of a rare in-division trade with the hated Washington Commanders. That post had already been shared 500 times and had been engaged with well over 300 comments.

This is an intriguing low-risk, high-reward acquisition. Philly gives up a 2025 third-round selection and two seventh-rounders. They receiver a possible third wideout and slot receiver for their depth chart who can play more than one wide receiver position.

His addition is also cost-effective. In 2024, he earns a fully guaranteed $1.573 million base salary. He already earned a $500k roster bonus on the third day of training camp. In 2025, he'll make a fully guaranteed $2.757 million.

Like Saquon Barkley, he played at Penn State with the Nittany Lions. Like Saquon, he joins Philly by way of a divisional rival whose existence he'll loving making painful twice per season.

The feedback on how Jahan Dotson had performed at Commanders camp has been split. He had fallen out of favor with the new coaching staff. Dan Quinn seemingly took a shot at him recently. All of that is water under the bridge now.

New city... New opportunity... A boulder-sized chip on the shoulder. This may work out for Philly. Then again, it may not, but you can't fault Howie Roseman for taking its chance. This could pay off mightily, and if it doesn't, Philly doesn't lose much.
