The Eagles are looking to do the unthinkable and get back to the NFL's grandest stage this season.

What comes next? That's the question that everyone is asking. During the 19 years that have stretched from 2003 to 2022, the Philadelphia Eagles have qualified for three Super Bowls. Sadly, however, the seasons that followed the two most recent appearances weren't as spectacular as the preceding. History suggests Birds fans may be in for a letdown following the fireworks that came last year.

Philly's first Super Bowl appearance of the Jeffrey Lurie era came at the close of the 2004-2005 NFL season and was led by then-head coach Andy Reid. It appeared likely that the future was bright and the chances were high that Philly would return a year later. Unfortunately, the offseason brought chaos and a season-long nightmare. We will discuss that more in a second.

Philly's lone Super Bowl-winning season came during their 2017-2018 run and was led by Doug Pederson. They overcame multiple injuries and adversity to hoist the Vince Lombardi Trophy. Despite a slow start, Pederson's 2018-2019 squad battled its way into the playoffs again but Nick Foles and company ran out of magic and came just short of making a second consecutive appearance in the NFC Championship Game.

Last season, the Eagles made their fourth appearance on football's grandest stage, this time with Nick Sirianni as their head coach. There were sporadic injuries. Lingering issues with Jalen Hurts, Dallas Goedert, and C. J. Gardner-Johnson come to mind, but overall, they stayed relatively healthy throughout the season. Things didn't end as planned in the big game, but hope springs eternal that they can avoid the Super Bowl jinx and return this season.

The 2005 Eagles season followed a Super Bowl appearance and loss. The 2018 Eagles attempted to repeat as Super Bowl champions after winning the year prior. Both teams saw Super Bowl hangovers.

Let's figure out where things went haywire in both of those instances and learn from those mistakes. The goal is to help Philly get back to the big game this season and win it
