The first of many: Nolan Smith collects the first sack of his young Eagles career

Well, we couldn't let this slip past us. The Eagles give up a late second-quarter TD versus the Dolphins, but Nolan Smith racked his first career sack.

We never doubted. We knew when the Philadelphia Eagles landed both Jalen Carter AND Nolan Smith during the first round of the most recent NFL Draft that Howie Roseman had hit the jackpot. Here's the thing. Nolan was injured during a meaningless preseason game, and he's been working his way back to tip-top shape ever since.

Oh, and there's also something else. The Birds have an embarrassment of riches playing for them at the edge rushing position.

What a luxury it must be to house a talent like Nolan Smith and know that, for now, he's a luxury piece. Don't look now though. The rookie has produced a moment in a big Eagles game that he's never going to forget.

This one came in prime time on Sunday Night Football with the world watching!

Check out the first sack of Nolan Smith's young Eagles career.

Ahead of Week 7's game, Philadelphia Eagles edge rusher Nolan Smith had appeared in all of Philly's first six games. He racked 39 defensive snaps, roughly 10% of the defense's total. He also chipped in with another 78 snaps on special teams (52%).

The results weren't awe-inspiring. Two tackles were the results of his efforts, but here's one to get the adrenaline pumping.

Unfortunately, the Birds gave up a TD reception to Tyreek Hill on the next play, which is probably the most important nugget that came out of this drive, that and the fact that Philly took a 17-10 lead into halftime as a result.

Still, this is a moment that Birds fans and Nolan Smith will never forget for as long as he's an Eagle. Here's the best part. He gets to celebrate knowing that his team came out on top!

Call this one the first of many. Hopefully, this one makes everyone smile (and a victory punctuates the end of the night). Congrats to another of our 'Philly Dawgs'.
