Philadelphia Eagles star quarterback Jalen Hurts can make some NFL history against the Atlanta Falcons on Monday Night Football by running for a pair of touchdowns.

Hurts can tie Steve Young for third in all-time rushing TDs for a QB

Hurts enters the game against Atlanta with 41 career rushing touchdowns in 63 career games. With two touchdowns on the ground on Monday night, Hurts will tie Pro Football Hall-of-Famer Steve Young (43 rushing touchdowns) for the third-most rushing touchdowns ever by a quarterback. He will pass Young and take sole control of third place with a trifecta of rushing TDs.

Carolina Panthers legend Cam Newton is the all-time leader when it comes to rushing touchdowns for a quarterback with 75. Below you can see the list of the QBs with the most rushing touchdowns in NFL history, and where Hurts fits in.

Barring some wild unseen development, Hurts is obviously going to catch, and pass, Young in the very near future. But, will he do it against Atlanta on Monday Night Football? It would certainly be cool if he accomplished the feat on a national stage. It's also entirely possible.

Recording two rushing touchdowns in a single game obviously isn't easy, especially for a quarterback. But, it's something that Hurts is no stranger to doing. The Eagles star QB holds the NFL record among quarterbacks for games with multiple rushing touchdowns with 12.

Most recently, Hurts had two rushing touchdowns in a game against the Seattle Seahawks in December of last year. In all, he accomplished the feat four times in 2023. He's never had a multi-rushing touchdown game against the Falcons, though, so perhaps he'll be able to add them to his list after Monday night.

More important than getting two rushing touchdowns for Hurts, though, is taking care of the football. Hurts played pretty well in Week 1, but he had two ugly interceptions -- an issue he struggled with last season. When the Eagles went all the way to the Super Bowl in 2022, Hurts did an excellent job of taking care of the ball all season. He needs to get back to that, because he can't afford to keep giving the opposition extra opportunities.
