Howie Roseman offers the expected response while weighing in on the Eagles, Hasson Reddick speculation
The 2024 NFL Scouting Combine is upon us. Tuesday's activities began, in part, with a quick conversation between Philadelphia Eagles vice president/general manager Howie Roseman and select media members who were in attendance. Head coach Nick Sirianni's presser followed. Howie's discussion began with Houston Texans head coach and former Bird DeMeco Ryans jokingly stating "I could play linebacker for you". Yep! It appears we're going to see an enjoyable time.
Both Howie and Nick were intriguing, as you'd expect. Both were asked questions that we've had on our minds since the most recent Super Bowl ended.
The salary cap has increased. Philly's G.M. promises to "be aggressively going after" players who can help this team get better. One guy who's been on our minds is Haason Reddick.
Philly's G.M., Howie Roseman, was very complimentary of Eagles star Haason Reddick
It didn't take long for Tuesday's conversation to shift its attention toward one of the more talked about contract mini-stalemates between an Eagles player and its front office of recent memory.
What's next? How do things progress from here? No one expected Howie to tell us everything we wanted. He didn't, but here's a little inside info straight from the source.
They're called 'word salads'. People tell us a lot, and at the same time, they don't tell us anything. Howie's on the job, but this isn't our first rodeo. No one expected a blow-by-blow explanation of what Philly's plans for Haason Reddick look like, but if you need an update, there it is.
As mentioned, Nick Sirianni's discussion came after this one. His response to the same question? He gave us what you'd expect. We'll see how things out.... Hopefully (Haason) will be an Eagle...
Some of the other highlights: Howie says Nolan Smith “has all the right tools in his body" to be successful and that he'll get more chances in year two. Place that one in the back of your mind. In the meantime, watch the full conversations below:
