The Philadelphia Eagles suffered a heartbreaking loss at the hands of the Atlanta Falcons on Monday Night Football. It was a game that the Eagles could -- and should -- have won, as they had a win probability of 97.6% late in the fourth quarter of the contest. At that point, the celebration shots were already being poured at Pitchers Pub in Manayunk.

What followed was an epic collapse that gave Eagles fans flashback of last season, when the team completely fell off a cliff after a very promising start to the season, due in large part to self-inflicted wounds.

it was a demoralizing loss, at least for fans, and it's hard not to worry a little bit after the way the situation spiraled last season. This is supposed to be a new team -- new coordinators on both sides of the ball and a plethora of new players. It's concerning to see familiar issues pop up again.

But, it was also just the second game of the season. At this early point in the season, how the Eagles respond to the loss is much more important than the loss itself. Last year, the team responded very poorly when things started to go south. Will that be different this year? Hopefully.

Jalen Hurts sees the loss to Atlanta as a 'great test' for Philly

While speaking with media members after the loss to Atlanta, Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts explained how the Eagles can bounce back from the loss and potentially even use it as a learning experience.

“Keep pressing forward,” Hurts said. “Keep your head up at the end of the day. We have to intensely control the controllables. I think when I look at this game, there are a lot of things that we could have controlled fundamentally in our details.

"The little things that we just didn’t take advantage of. And so that’s this opportunity for us to learn from it. I think we’ve taken big steps in terms of coming together as a unit and need to continue on that journey and learn from this. I think it’s a great test for us.”

That's exactly what you want to hear from a leader of the team after a tough loss, but saying it is one thing, executing out on the field is another. Excuse Eagles fans if they're slightly skeptical after what they saw transpire last season.

The good thing about the NFL is that there's always next week, and the Eagles will have an excellent opportunity to respond against the Saints in New Orleans in Week 3. The Saints are 2-0 and they have the league's highest-scoring offense through two weeks of action. The Eagles could send a strong message with a win.
