Jalen Hurts Week 5, season report cards following Eagles thrilling win versus Rams
- The Eagles deliver another impressive performance in Week 5
- Their quarterback, Jalen Hurts, was masterful
- Here are grades for QB1's season so far (and his recent performance)
Well... All in all, we have to say that we're pretty damn happy about what we saw from QB1 Jalen Hurts during the Philadelphia Eagles' win versus the Los Angeles Rams in Week 5. He freelanced some with his legs. He extended plays. He willed himself to the first-down marker in one instance when it looked like he might be stopped three yards short of the line to gain.
He delivered some nice-looking passes. There were a few he'd like to have back, but that's life in the NFL. Jalen, for as good as he is, hasn't reached the ceiling on potential's house. Yes, he's going to get better.
So, we put another 'road' game in our rearview mirror (Philly's fans turned SoFi Stadium into Lincoln Financial Field West). Next up is a game versus the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium, but first let's look back for a few ticks.
Jalen Hurts earns passing grades for Week 5's game and for the sample size we've seen during the Eagles season.
Jalen Hurts completed 25 of 38 passes versus the Los Angeles Rams in Week 5 while tossing one touchdown pass and one interception. He was only sacked once. He racked up 72 yards and a touchdown on 15 rushing attempts.
His QBR and quarterback ratings were 82.7 and 87.9 respectively. On the season, his numbers were as follows: 168 passing attempts, 113 completions (67.3% completion percentage), 1,262 passing yards, six TD passes, four interceptions, 55 rushing attempts, 206 yards rushing, four rushing TDs.
Hurts' QBR this season is 61. His passer rating sits at 91.4. We expect QB1 to protect the football and improve as Philly's season continues
Best throw: Believe it or not, it was an incompletion!
Hurts' best throw of the most recent game, believe it or not was an INCOMPLETION. In the words of the great Kurt Angle... It's true! It's true...
With a little over 14 minutes remaining in the second quarter, the Eagles were scrimmaging from the 50-yard line. Jalen Hurts delivered a dime to A.J. Brown deep down the right sideline. Unfortunately, Jordan Fuller made a nice play in coverage to knock the ball free of Brown's grasp. Hey, sometimes the defense wins.
For the sake of time, rather than grab video, chop it up,, and edit it, we went to X. As you might imagine, it's hard to find an incompletion posted, but thank goodness for @Eaglesfans9.
Did you see that touch?
QB1 and the Eagles are now 5-0 on this young Eagles season. Jalen Hurts, after Sunday's win, improves to 30-13 as a starter (that includes four playoff game appearances). He's 21-3 in his last 24 starts. That also includes what he has done in the postseason.
