Sometimes, you get lucky. Sometimes, you get exactly what you're looking for. The Philadelphia Eagles entered Week 9's contest with the rival Dallas Cowboys knowing the line that separated superiority and mediocrity was slim. A loss would mean both teams owned two. It would also give Dallas an early tiebreaker in the divisional standings. Let's just say Christmas came a little early.

Philly won. That victory gave the Birds an 8-1 record and, by all accounts, a stranglehold in the National Football Conference. They're the NFC's and the NFL's top-ranked team.

Next up is a week of rest. Then, there's another huge game scheduled. Yes, it's one that Birds fans circled a while ago.

The Philadelphia Eagles are one of four teams that are off during the NFL's tenth week of action.

No Eagles fan has to be told how last season went. One of the best campaigns in franchise history also doubles as one of the most disappointing. This year, the goals are quite obvious. Get back to the Super Bowl and WIN.

Last year's opponent in football's biggest game was the Kansas City Chiefs. They and the Birds are both off in Week 10, but so are two other franchises.

Here are all four teams enjoying Week 10 byes.

  • Philadelphia Eagles
  • Kansas City Chiefs
  • Los Angeles Rams
  • Miami Dolphins

So, what should Eagles fans watch in Week 9? How about some stress-free football? The hated San Francisco 49ers visit the Jacksonville Jaguars. Philly's NFC East rivals will see action as well.

The New York Giants visit the Dallas Cowboys. The Washington Commanders travel west to face the Seattle Seahawks. As for the Eagles, their next contest is a tussle with the aforementioned Chiefs. That one will be played on Monday Night Football (as it should be).
