Award shows aren't what they used to be. They hire DJs for some of them now. Often, they aren't very good. We then sit for about three hours and, more often than not, watch trophies get handed out to the 'winners', many of whom are underserving, while the other nominees try to be good sports about everything.

These days, the deserving can find themselves ignored while failing to reach the 'nominee' level. Philadelphia Eagles fans are well aware of what we're talking about. Raise those hands if you're still scratching your head about the most recent NFL Honors and of the opinion that Jalen Hurts should have won the MVP trophy.

We apologize sincerely for that last line. That didn't sound bitter, did it?

Welp, past grudges aside, here we go again. Every year since 1993, the ESPYS has recognized excellent achievements in sports performance. Another is scheduled for July 12th at 8 p.m. EST. Guess what? QB1, Jalen Hurts, is nominated for an award!

Eagles star Jalen Hurts is nominated for the Best NFL Player Award at this year’s ESPYS.

He has come a long way in a short time. This time last year, there were doubts about whether or not Jalen Hurts can get the job done as QB1 of the Philadelphia Eagles. Well... We didn't doubt him. We told you he would be fine, but there were whispers. Jalen responded as he often does, with his play on the field. This time around, the detractors are silent.

For his efforts, Jalen earned MVP candidacy and a brand new extension. By the looks of things, he may even take another ESPY home. He's nominated for Best NFL Player Award alongside Nick Bosa (San Francisco 49ers), Justin Jefferson (Minnesota Vikings), and Patrick Mahomes (Kansas City Chiefs). Jalen Carter, Kelee Ringo, and Nolan Smith's Georgia Bulldogs are nominated for the BEST Team Award.

We're pulling for our Bulldogs on the Birds roster. We're also casting our votes for Jalen Hurts. You can make your voice heard and vote here until July 9th. Yeah, we're still a little salty about the NFL Honors, but we'll take a couple of wins on ESPY night as a consolation prize.
