3 Philadelphia Eagles that could regress during the 2023 NFL season
- The Eagles own a loaded roster.
- There is always a chance of regression with any NFL player.
- Here are three of Philly's stars to keep tabs on.
Fletcher Cox, Defensive Tackle
Brought back on a one-year contract, Fletcher Cox is a player who is still effective but may take a small step back with his production and playing time. In 2022, the veteran defensive tackle showcased his pass-rushing prowess, posting nine sacks and 11 quarterback hits.
Yet according to PFF, Cox posted one of the lowest pash rush grades of his career at 63.3. He also posted a run defense grade of 53.5, which also registered as the lowest of his career.
The Eagles just drafted Jalen Carter this year and have last year's first-round pick, Joran Davis, waiting in the wings. They also have depth that includes the likes of Milton Williams and rookie Moro Ojomo.
Cox should and will be a major factor for the Eagles this season. He is still an effective pass rusher that can create havoc with the rest of the Eagles' defensive line. But with no long-term contract in place and some previous regression in other areas, Cox may not be the same overall force he has been throughout the majority of his career.
