Possible James Bradberry landing spot mentioned (and it's one we have suggested)

Another day passes. James Bradberry is still a member of the Philadelphia Eagles roster. Wow! How did that happen? We could state he has nine lives, but that might be a stretch. Stories like these aren't that big of a deal in July... that is until we get to the dawn of training camp. Don't look now, but the Birds report on July 23rd.

At the time of this story's publishing, we're a couple of days away from the start of Philly's camp. We have a question. So the Birds aren't going to trade this guy?

Ask around. It would appear that the concerns about him aren't dying. Some have wanted to run him out of town since last season.

The Raiders are listed as a possible destination for James Bradberry. Now, where have we heard that before?

Poll the 'run Bradberry out of town' contingent. Many will tell you the final straw in some people's minds was the image of seeing Drew Lock drive the Seahawks 92 yards down the field in Week 15 for a go-ahead score.

The straw that broke the Eagles' back was a 29-yard TD pass from Lock to Jaxon Smith-Njigba with less than 30 seconds remaining. Yep! James Bradberry was in coverage.

The 2022 Second-Team All-Pro wasn't painted in the most positive light after that one. Seven months later, he's the subject of trade talk, but if Philly can't find a willing partner, there's a segment of the media and fan base that would settle for a very expensive release, but questions lie there too.

We thought Philly would release him after June 1st to allow them to spread his cap hit, but as stated, James is STILL on the roster. But, will he be on the roster by the start of the regular season?

Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox suggests that the Raiders might be willing to take a low-risk flier on him. Come to think about it, that sounds exactly like something we once said while discussing landing spots that made more sense than the Atlanta Falcons (when there were rumors that he'd fly south and join them).

A Raiders acquisition makes sense. Their defensive coordinator, Patrick Graham, served as the New York Giants defensive coordinator during Bradberry's 2020 Pro Bowl campaign in New York. A reunion between the two could reinvigorate the veteran.

As for Philly's side of the coin, James carries a cap hit of only $4.3 million this season, but he also represents a dead-cap hit of $15.1 million. If he is traded, that could save the Eagles $1.2 million in 2024 cap space. Unfortunately, most teams who are interested are probably hoping Philly releases him outright.
