Potential Eagles 2024 free-agent targets with ties to Vic Fangio
For some of us, the NFL's free agency frenzy is almost as fun as March Madness, Major League Baseball's Spring Training, and any other sporting event that you can think of. The Philadelphia Eagles aren't always as active as we'd like for them to be, but that's okay. It's still fun to throw on those imaginary general manager caps and try our hands at guessing where some of these guys might wind up landing.
This time around, things feel a little different. The Birds have enough cap space to try and be competitive during the coming free agency cycle. They can also free up more by finagling a few of their current deals.
You may have heard. Philly collapsed to close a once-promising season, and the defense has taken some heat for that.
The new defensive coordinator is Vic Fangio. There's hope he can make his unit a feared one. Philly may be in the market to go shopping for some weapons to assist him in doing so. Might they begin by reuniting him with some familiar faces?
Andrew Van Ginkel, EDGE
There are concerns with Andrew Van Ginkel. He's the owner of a pair of short arms, and that's often seen as a flaw in most edge rushers. He's also slight of frame and, at times, struggles to get off blocks. That may also be attributable to the physical frame.
Don't get us wrong. Van Ginkel is no runt. He's six-foot-four and tips the scales at 242 pounds. He's also a playmaker when he does shake loose. He played just one season under Fangio, this past season with the Miami Dolphins. 69 tackles, six sacks, and an interception were the results of his efforts. Birds fans would kill to see that type of production in Philly.
Put an asterisk by his name. Keep an eye on the following impending free agents as well.
