DeVonta Smith would have already had back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons on his resume had he been paired with a teammate like A.J. Brown as a rookie.

A.J. Brown had a lot of fun last year. DeVonta Smith didn't have any issues with producing any fireworks on his side of the offensive formation. He enjoyed a career-best 1,196 receiving yards with seven touchdowns in his sophomore NFL season.

He's still young, and after being targeted 104 times as a rookie, the ball was thrown his way 136 times in year two. Might we see a career-high in targets during the coming season? No one should be shocked if that's what happens.

Smith fell short of the 1000-yard threshold by 84 yards in 2021. Something tells us he would have hit the target had he been paired with a teammate like A.J. Brown since his rookie year. Each one's presence takes the pressure off of the other.

DeVonta should see plenty of targets come his way in 2023. If he stays healthy, which he often does, another stellar season is assured (and maybe his first Pro Bowl appearance). In only one year of working together, this duo brought a fierceness to the passing attack and broke records. There is a good chance they make more history in 2023. Frankly, that's exactly what everyone should expect.
