By Matt Grazel
Darren Waller, tight end, New York Giants
Giants quarterback Daniel Jones and the New York offense got off to a slow start in Week 2 with zero points in the first half of their 31-28 win. Darren Waller played a part in their win with six catches for 76 yards.
Running back Saquon Barkley suffered an ankle sprain against the Cardinals and is considered week-to-week. The sixth-year player is out for the September 21 game versus the San Francisco 49ers and the Giants will need their other offensive playmakers to step up in his absence.
The 49ers have scored 30 points in both of their wins, so the Giants will need to pass effectively to keep pace with their opponent. Waller has 13 targets, the most on the team, through New York's two games.
If he remains healthy, the 31-year-old has proven he can make a positive impact on an offense as he did with the Las Vegas Raiders in 2019 and 2020. Look for Jones to target Waller early and often against the 49ers.
Prediction for Waller - 7 targets, 5 catches, 77 yards, one touchdown
