The Washington Commanders' defense is off to a good start as they are tied with the Cowboys for the league lead in sacks with 10. Daron Payne is coming off a career year in which he tallied 11.5 sacks in 17 games. The recipient of a four-year, $90 million contract last offseason is off to a solid start with seven tackles and one sack through two contests.
Payne, Montez Sweat, Jonathan Allen, and Chase Young have the potential to be a part of a memorable defensive line in 2023. Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen could be flustered occasionally during the upcoming contest this weekend. The Jets managed five sacks, three interceptions, and recovered one fumble in Week 1 against Allen and the Bills.
The Commanders' defense has demonstrated the capability of creating turnovers and maintaining pressure on their opponents in their first two games. Washington can make this game interesting if they keep it close by forcing Allen into making mistakes. He has developed a reputation for being turnover-prone during his career.
