Stat predictions for a few Eagles rivals during the NFL's second week of action
By Matt Grazel
The Eagles sit at 2-0 on this young NFL season, and now, the focus shifts toward some of their rivals.
The first week of the 2023 NFL season has come and gone. Week 2 is officially underway. What stood out during Week 1 among the NFC East's four teams?
Many of the Washington Commanders' defensive stars got off to good starts including Montez Sweat, Jonathan Allen, and Kamren Curl. That was impressive.
The Philadelphia Eagles' struggled against the Patriots but eventually put them away. New England's tight ends were allowed eight catches, 92 yards receiving, and a touchdown.
The New York Giants were embarrassed at home by one of their rivals, the Dallas Cowboys. The score was 40-0 in that one. Tony Pollard rushed for two touchdowns in his debut as RB1 for the Cowboys while Stephon Gilmore finished with four tackles and an interception in his debut with Dallas.
Week 2 is underway. The Eagles are now 2-0 and will enjoy 11 days of rest. The Commanders, Giants, and Cowboys have some big games on their horizon as well.
Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert was nonexistent in terms of offensive production during Philly's 25-20 victory over New England. The sixth-year veteran was targeted once en route to a zero-catch performance. Simply put, he wasn't utilized nearly enough.
Philly made a concerted effort to get him more involved with the game plan versus the Minnesota Vikings, and while the stat line wasn't impressive (six catches, 22 receiving yards), it was good to see him involved in the offensive attack. He'll be needed as Philly navigates its way through this season.
Now, the focus shifts toward their rivals.
