Three pending 2024 free agents that Eagles' fans should be worried about losing

The Eagles have a ton of players entering contract seasons. Each offseason brings roster turnover, but some guys will be harder to replace than you realize.

Quez Watkins, WR

Cam down. We know what you're thinking. You have to hear us out on this one.

We all are aware that Quez Watkins isn't the best nor the second-best receiver on the Eagles roster. Heck with newly acquired Olamide Zaccheaus on the roster, he may not even be the third-best. Sill, after A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, the Birds are very thin at the position, and if Philly endures any unforeseen injury at wideout, this unit looks very different.

Depth at any position is important. Philly needs depth at wide receiver. They already lost Zach Pascal this offseason and losing Quez Watkins one year later will thin out the receiver room even more.

Losing Quez would cause the Eagles to have to find free agents to bring in or look to the draft. Perhaps the team can find an upgrade, but Philly's track record of drafting receivers is any indication, keeping Quez Watkins around might be an acceptable insurance policy. He's familiar with the organization, and the organization is familiar with him.

Watkins was drafted by the Eagles in 2020 and had a career-best 647 receiving yards in 2021. That includes a 91-yard catch and run. His production dipped in 2022 as he recorded a mere 354 yards, but he also snagged a career-high three touchdowns. He figures to be the third receiver on the roster and could get targets with defenders prioritizing the defense of Brown, Smith, and tight end Dallas Goedert. Simply put, Fast Batman has a lot riding on the coming season.
