Tyler Steen, Offensive Guard

Along the Eagles' offensive line, the key standouts are very well-known. Lane Johnson and Jason Kelcie have been two of the best offensive linemen in the NFL for a long time. Jordan Mailata and Landon Dickerson are two young stars with solid pedigrees. They are two of the best in the game at their respective positions.

The right guard position is the one area where there's a question mark, even if we're discussing one that's minimal. Time will tell who wins the starting role, but whoever wins the job has a tough assignment replacing Isaac Seumalo.

It's expected that the Eagles will give Cam Jurgens every opportunity to start, but Tyler Steen is fully capable of winning a starting job as well. Steen was drafted in the third round by the Eagles during the 2023 NFL Draft following a year in Alabama with the Crimson Tide after starting for three years at Vanderbilt as a member of the Commodores.

He stands at six-foot-six inches. He weighs 321 pounds and has 32 and 3/4-inch arms. He uses his frame to be a force in the run game; Steen never had a PFF run-blocking grade under 64 in any of his seasons at Vanderbilt or Alabama, yet he has struggled in pass protection, evidenced by giving up two sacks, two quarterback hits, and 19 quarterback hurries in 2022.

Steen's struggles in the passing game could be attributed to his lack of arm length, as he had to deal with more lanky players during his time at tackle in college.

With a move to guard in store, this rookie could still help the Eagles considerably in the run game with his size (if he wins the job), but more importantly, he could become a more consistent pass blocker when dealing with interior rushers, as his arm length will not be as much of a deterrent.
