The Philadelphia Eagles do have some roster holes to fill in the 2025 NFL Draft, and they should ensure they avoid catastrophe in the first round. It seems like Howie Roseman is truly playing a different speed of a game when the NFL Draft rolls around - he is simply excellent when late-April comes.

Roseman and the Eagles won the Super Bowl for the first time since 2017 and will obviously seek to become one of the handful of NFL franchises to win two Super Bowls in a row, but to do that, they will need some solid contributions from the 2025 NFL Draft.

Let's dive into three first-round catastrophes the eagles must avoid.

Potential 1st-round catastrophes Eagles should avoid in 2025 NFL Draft

Passing on a top safety prospect like Malaki Starks or Nick Emmanwori

The Eagles traded CJ Gardner-Johnson to the Houston Texans, so their starting safety tandem is now Reed Blankenship and Tristin McCollum. If a top safety prospect like Malaki Starks or Nick Emmanwori is there at pick 32, Philly has to pull the trigger.

I understand that safety isn't exactly the most valuable position on defense, and we have not seen GM Howie Roseman pour a ton of draft capital into the position. But if you ask me, the unit is shaky at best now and could use a top prospect like Starks or Emmanwori at pick 32.

Thinking Kenyon Green means no guard upgrade is needed (Tyler Booker)

I understand that the Philadelphia Eagles did trade for Kenyon Green, but what if Tyler Booker falls into their laps at pick 32? Booker is the best guard prospect in the 2025 NFL Draft class and seems like a sure-thing at the NFL level. Philly found a ton of success with their former Alabama guard Landon Dickerson, so I would assume they'd feel strongly about Booker.

We can all see just how much of an emphasis Howie Roseman has put on fielding top-notch offensive lines during his Eagles tenure, and there could be a clear-cut avenue for this team to upgrade their OL with a stud rookie in Tyler Booker. The Eagles must pull the trigger if he is sitting there at pick 32.

Passing up on a trade-down opportunity in Round 1

The Eagles are obviously picking 32nd overall, which could be a sweet spot in the 2025 NFL Draft. This draft does not have a ton of high-end talent, and frankly does not have a lot of first-round talent, so being able to trade down and perhaps grab an extra second-round pick could be huge here.

If the Eagles do have an offer on the table from a team to move down into the second round while securing that extra pick, they must accept it. The team does already have a good bit of defensive turnover, and there is simply so much value in that second round and early third round window that Howie Roseman should take advantage of.
